Looking for The Perfect Tent?

By following our easy, step by step free online guide, you are guaranteed to find the perfect tent for you, within minutes.

Step 1 –What Will You Use the Tent For?

Is your ideal camping trip on top of a snowy mounatin with hot chocolate? Is it a backpacking trip in a warm weather,  surrounded by the sounds of nature or is it on a cheerful camping ground?

  • Expedition and Hiking (Mountaineering) - Expedition tents are 4 season tents that can be used during winter time or in snowy areas. Not as light as the 3 seasons tents, they are designed to endure high winds and large masses of snow. These tents are also more expensive.  More on expedition tents.
  • Backpacking – Backpacking tents are usually 3 season lightweight tents that are durable and easy to carry. More on backpacking tents.
  • Car Camping -The basic type of tents, where weight is not an issue. In the past most of the car camping tents were 2 season tents that are suited for summertime use only. Today most car camping tents are 3 seasons tents so they can be used during spring, summer and fall. More on car camping tents.

Once you know what your style is, you can easily find the perfect tent by following our guide!

Step 2 – Minimalist or Looking to be Comfortable?

A comfortable tent is a heavier tent.

  • A mininalist settles for a smaller tent with less features, and will appreciate the smaller pack and lighter weight to carry. Minimalists go for light & durable aluminium poles and ultralight tents.
  • A camper looking for comfort will look for the extra features: a vestibule to store your bag and cook in, a more spacious tent and even double doors so you don’t step on people when you exit the tent

Step 3 – What Tent Capacity Do You Need?

Once you have decided what kind of a camper are you, you can determine your required tent capacity.

First, know the number of people that will accomodate your tent. If you are a minimalist, the same number will be your tent capacity.

But, most campers are looking for some level of comfort. A larger tent capcity means having enough space to move around the tent and sleeping not too-close to your partner.

Most campers settle for a capacity for one more person than the actual number of people who will use the tent.

But if you are looking for the most comfortable experience, a good thing will be to double the actual number of people who will use the tent. This will give you a large area to move in and store your gear, as well as sleep and exit the tent very comfortably.

Pick your style and capacity-

Step 4 – How Much Are You Looking to Spend?

Tent prices range anywhere from $60 to $5000. More seasons, ligher tents and larger tents are more expensive.

If you are looking for a cheap tent, make sure you don’t end up with a tent that you will have to replace after one season.

Usually, buying a little more expensive tent means not needing to buy a new one every couple of seasons.
